Term Assistant Professor of English at George Mason University; specialty in 19th-century American literature with an emphasis on abolition, the novel, works by African Americans and women, and the cultural context(s) thereof. Currently researching Emily Clemens Pearson, a little-known abolitionist novelist, and designing an Advanced Composition class that will have students research and write about Civil War-time Alexandria from the perspective of Harriet Jacobs, former slave and worker among the freedpeople. I hope to communicate the results of both projects in digital format(s).
