I am a public historian fascinated by the ways in which digital tools have begun to influence the historical narrative. I am building a digital archive for the Humanties Council of Washington, DC, one of the 56 "state" humanities councils and an organization which works to preserve the history, heritage, and culture of the District's communities. The collection consists of films, oral histories, walking tours, publications, and other media, many of which were created by DC residents about their own communities. I hope to create a resource where these materials are not only more accessible, but where they can become part of a larger, ever-changing narrative on how Washingtonians understand and use their history.
